RESOURCE | Good Work

“To all of my fellow hospitality workers: take pride as you go into your shift because you have been entrusted with constructing intimate experiences with some of the most foundational material in this world- food, drink and human relationships. You are an engineer in the truest sense.”

In this essay, Teen Dare explores some of the ways we unintentionally devalue work in the hospitality industry and provides an antidotal perspective. Teena Dare leads the Faith, Work, and Rest Initiative for Surge Network, has a degree in Missional Theology, and spent a decade working in the restaurant industry, where she learned to reimagine what it means to embody Christ’s love through food, drink and hospitality. She has a passion to see God’s people live out their calling to be a blessing in all of life.
